A quiet, reflective, said, Holy Communion service held in the historic Derby Chapel within the church.
The Service, including a short homily, usually on the Gospel follows the modern prayer book (Common Worship) order of service. A small booklet enables everybody to follow and participate in the worship.
The 9.45 Service is an informal modern service for those seeking to find fresh ways to worship. The service leaders adopt a friendly, relaxed approach thar enables the congregation of all ages to learn and develop spiritually.
The modern feel of the service is emphasised by the music which is led by our worship band and offers the best contemporary worship music.
We aim to be creative in our worship. We mix drama, music, puppetry and action challanges into ways of finding God's relevance into today's society. We have a creative approach to prayer, allowing individuals to find their own time and space for God. We aim to be an inclusive service allowing as many people as want to take part in the worship.
The 9.45 congregation is a mixed, friendly congregation of all ages. Children are very much welcomed as a vital part of our worship. And we have a range of children's activities that enable them to grow and develop at their own pace.
We also have special services and events. A particular highlight is our annual summer series which takes a teaching theme during the summer holidays and develops exciting services around it.
The 9.45 service is an inclusive service. This is seen particularly through the work of its planning group. This group is open to anyone who wants to shape how the services look and feel enabling us to develop services that truly reflect the way this modern congregation wants to express its love for God in worship.
Services of Morning Prayer, Holy Communion or Baptism following the modern prayer book (Common Worship) order of service includes music led by a very talented organist and small choir. There is an appropriate booklet for each person present, enabling all to join in. Readings and prayers are led by members of the congregation. The hymns and songs come from the most comprehensive collection available (Complete Anglican Hymns Old and New). There is also a challenging address and much to think about throughout the whole service. Good provision is made during the address for children. During the whole Baptism Service there are excellent facilities for children.
New Church House is open on Sundays from 10.15am to 12.00 for coffee and biscuits and for the congregation to meet and mingle.
In the Derby Chapel, from Easter to Harvest and in New Church House for the winter, an informal, but ordered service of Evening Prayer and twice a month Holy Communion follows the modern prayer book (Common Worship). All can participate. Those present sit in the round and the music, accompanied by the piano, includes a real variety of old and new hymns. The address is always throughtful and very direct in this 'in the round' seating arrangement.
Enter through the Derby Chapel door.
Morning prayer (Common Worship) with reflection and brief discussion of readings. Prayer and personal intercessions
The Church is open from 8pm every Wednesday for a different way of exploring your relationship with God.
